Mobile Echocardiography
Echocardiography uses ultrasound waves to create a picture of the heart, which is known as an echocardiogram (echo).
It is a non-invasive medical procedure that does not involve radiation and does not typically cause side effects.
An echocardiogram can enable a doctor to see:
- the size and thickness of the heart’s chambers
- how the heart valves are functioning
- the direction of blood flow through the heart
- any blood clots in the heart
- areas of damaged or weak cardiac muscle tissue
- any problems affecting the pericardium (the fluid-filled sac around the heart)
Doctors also use echocardiography to evaluate the causes of a stroke.
